Stephanie’s latest skip is Loretta Rizzi, a stressed out single mom who recently held up a liquor store—and who just happens to be a cousin of Joe Morelli. Seems trouble runs in the family: Joe’s other cousin—Loretta’s brother, Dom—robs banks for a living. His latest take: 9 million dollars. Stashed…well, you’re not the only one who wants to know.
Loretta’s on the lam, and she only agrees to be brought in on one condition: that Stephanie pick up her son, Mario, from school while Loretta gets bonded out. Plum luck being what it is, Loretta doesn’t get the bond. And now Stephanie’s playing nanny to a 14-year-old tough guy she can neither shoot nor shake down.
Meanwhile, less than a week after Dom gets out of the slammer, shadowy figures are breaking into Joe Morelli’s house. Plus, he’s getting threatening messages—and now Dom’s gone missing. On top of all that, Ranger has a job for Stephanie: babysitting an aging rock diva who eats bodyguards for breakfast!
Pile on personal vendettas, murder, acid reflux and a monkey named Carl, and this promises to be one of Janet Evanovich’s most explosive Stephanie Plum adventures yet!
Bottom line: Only the fearless should read Fearless Fourteen.

This was Stephanie Plum at her bungling best. How she survives is beyond me. Oh yes, Ranger and Morelli are her rescuers. Sometimes Evanovich's formula is repetitive, but she never fails to make me laugh and have me guessing to the very end.

I love these books and this one did not disappoint. Nothing better than a riveting mystery that also makes you laugh. She can't marry, though. That would ruin the chemistry, and change who she is.

Janet not at the "top of her game" on this one!

Please please, if Stephanie marries, it has to be Joe. They have a long history together, which gives them so much as they grow older.
Trust me, I'm 62, (married same man 42 years)and that common history is important!
