SUSAN ISAACS

SUSAN ISAACS

Born in Brooklyn and educated at Queens College, Susan Isaacs has written a slew of New York Times bestselling mystery books. After working as a full-time writer for Seventeen, Isaacs dedicated herself to writing mystery novels full-time, the first being Compromising Positions (1978), the first of many projects to feature a housewife-as-detective. Chosen as a Main Selection of Book-of-the-Month Club, auctioned for paperback and adapted into a major Hollywood blockbuster starring Susan Sarandon and Raul Julia, Compromising Positions became an amazing success.

An avalanche of amazing mystery books followed, including After All These Years (1993), Lily White (1996) and more recent offerings like Long Time No See (2001) and the New York Times bestselling mystery As Husbands Go (2010). The latter is an unforgettable tale of a wife out to solve the murder of her doctor husband, found dead in a prostitute’s Upper East Side apartment.

Susan Isaacs’ prodigious talent is not limited to mystery novels, either. She’s written works of nonfiction, along with many articles, essays, op-ed pieces and book reviews for several popular publications. Newsday hired her to cover the 2000 presidential campaign, attending both conventions and rubbing elbows with the candidates (she even interviewed George W. Bush). She’s the recipient of the Writers for Writers Award, the John Steinbeck Award and the Marymount Manhattan Writing Center Award. Susan Isaacs lives on Long Island with her husband of 40 years and has two grown children and several grandchildren.
