Everyone in Athena, Mississippi, knows Charlie Harris and his leash-trained Maine coon cat, Diesel. Diesel goes everywhere with Charlie and even helps the librarian-turned-sleuth solve local crimes.
Now crime is curling up at Charlie’s door. Athena College's new writer in residence is playwright Connor Lawton, known for his sharp writing—and sharper tongue. One night, Charlie arrives home to discover that his daughter Laura is subbing at the college and being harrassed by a jealous stalker, both thanks to her friendship with Connor.
But before Connor finishes his latest play, he turns up dead—and the police suspect Laura! Charlie and Diesel must sniff out his trail to find the killer, before Laura is cataloged under M…for murderer.

The character that is most enjoyable is the cat. Although I liked this book, I thought it was written in a hurried manner.

I happened to have all 3 books from the beginning and could hardly manage to do anything else until finished with all of them. I look forward to the next.

i was disappointed in this book..i loved the first two in this series but found in this one the story line was boring...i enjoy the main characters but the story dragged on ending with a big finish...i will buy the next book in this series because i love diesel and charlie i just hope it has a much more interesting story to tell...

Even though the first two books in this series were wonderful, I found this one to be slow and uninteresting. I really had to force myself to finish it. I was so disappointed! However, I am willing to give this author another try if there is another book in the making.
