Avast thar, ye maties! In Scones & Bones—the 12th outing of the New York Times bestselling Tea Shop Mystery series—Laura Childs offers up a bit of skulduggery with the caramel scones and chamomile tea.
Theodosia Browning, proprietor of Charleston’s Indigo Tea Shop, is accustomed to dealing with savory blends of tea…and unsavory brands of crime. So she’s not at all unsettled by the main attraction of the Heritage Society’s Pirates and Plunder soirée. The antique skull drinking cup on display in the museum’s gallery is a bizarre and horrifying curiosity: Embedded beneath the skull’s chin is an enormous diamond. But what makes the cup even more spectacular is that it was supposedly created from an actual skull, that of the most notorious pirate of the South Carolina coast—Blackbeard himself!
Theodosia is fascinated, until a shocking incident occurs that gives new meaning to the phrase “killer diamond:” the skull cup is plundered and a Society intern murdered in the process! With only one clue, a raft of suspects and a possible alternate motive—the cup may be the key to locating a legendary lost treasure—Theodosia will have to go overboard to find the killer and avoid Blackbeard’s curse!

I love the Tea Shop series. The way Laura Childs writes her books makes it impossible to put them down! I can't wait to sit down to read the next one and have a cup of tea!

I really feel like I know all of the characters in and around the Indigo Tea Shop, as I have read all of the Tea Shop Mysteries. They are like old friends, and I enjoyed this book as well as the others. I am sure it is getting more and more difficult to find story lines around Old Charleston, but I hope Ms Child keeps writing these mysteries.
