Overdue bills, hormonal teenage boys and constant mother vs. mother-in-law battles at home are bad enough. But crafts editor Anastasia Pollack’s stress level is maxed out when she and her fellow American Woman editors get roped into unpaid gigs for a revamped morning TV show.
Before the glue is dry on Anastasia’s mop dolls, daybreak TV turns crime-drama when the producer is murdered. More sleaze than star quality, former co-hosts Vince and Monica are the top suspects—and investigating lands Anastasia in the killer’s unforgiving spotlight.
A seamless mesh of crafting and crime, Death by Killer Mop Doll by Lois Winston is a fun romp with characters you can’t help but get attached to. Four mop-doll and string-doll projects.

It's a so-so book. At first when I looked to see if the "craft" was in the back of the book, like some mystery books, it wasn't there. Instead it was in the body of the book. It didn't really add to the story where it was placed and would have been better if it had been at the back of the book, after the story. As far as the story, the characters are very annoying, especially the main character and her mother. In fact none of the characters are lovable or fun to read.
As I read the story, it almost felt like the author had just finished a class in writing and was using every technique she had been taught, which made the whole book very contrived and not funny. The author should have been loose and less wordy in her discriptions on everything that was going on with the characters. It was like she was stating a fact over and over. Very tedious to read and not as funny as the writer thinks it is because she over thinks the plot, like beating a dead horse over and over. It's a book I probably won't keep on my bookshelf and will pass it on to Goodwill.
