The Clue is in the Pudding

The Pennyfoot Country Club really ought to close for Christmas, since every year, someone is murdered in the quaint Victorian establishment. This year’s December decedent is Archibald Armitage, an actor who faces the final curtain after he devours some of the chef’s scrummy plum pudding. With P.C. Northcott off on a well-deserved holiday, it falls to manager Cecily Sinclair Baxter, sleuthing along with the loyal Pansy and Gertie, to vet a parade of suspects that includes haughty Sir Reginald and scorned Lady Bottingham as well as sundry staff members. But time is running out for Cecily to find the poisoner, organize the choir for the carol-singing, and persuade the skittish guests that the Pennyfoot’s “Christmas curse” is poppycock.

The Pennyfoot group is an interesting one, the story line is good, and the culprit is usually a surprise. It's an easy read, and doesn't tax your brain. A good getaway book.
