Dead by Day

Sookie Stackhouse is a smart, savvy waitress in a small Southern town. Her ability to read minds gives humans the creeps. So her old boyfriend, Bill, seems perfect for her: since vampires are dead, Sookie can’t read their minds. At last, she’s with a man who might surprise her. But when the pair breaks up, Sookie hopes she can go back to her uneventful, pre-vamp existence. As if.

In Dead to the World, Sookie starts the New Year off with a bang by finding Bill’s “boss,” vampire Eric, running half-naked through the woods. Seems someone stole mighty Eric’s memory—and dropped the gorgeous and now vulnerable vampire right into Sookie’s lap. Eric might end up the only friend Sookie’s got, especially after her brother, Jason, goes missing—and a bloody footprint is found behind his house. Before she can say “Boo!”, Sookie finds herself in the middle of the most violent, bloody turf war that vampires, witches and werewolves have ever known….

In Dead As A Doornail, somebody is gunning for the two-natured, and if Sookie gets in the way, so much the better. Shifters are going down, and her brother, Jason, is a suspect. A wicked new vampire named Mickey has his lethal sights set on Sookie, and her old boyfriend Bill—and newer vampire love, Eric—will fight to the death to save her.

Sookie hopes they don’t kill her in the process….

my fave so far

I started reading after watching the show. I thought the first couple books lacked in writing style, a little school-like but book 3 started going uphill. Book 4 is GREAT!!!! I love Eric on the show so of course I'm loving him in the books, and spent every minute living vicariously thru Sookie in this one.

Best one in the Series!
May 03, 2010

I've read them all and Book 4, Dead to the World, is by far my most favorite book in the entire series. I love Eric's character and if I ever had the chance to be with a vampire, he'd be my first choice. I love the dynamic relationship that he and Sookie share, and it truly flourishes in this story. Fans get to see a whole new side of Eric, and the role change making him the one who is vulnerable and dependent on Sookie will make readers laugh out loud at times, and the sex scenes are steamy!! This is a must read for all Sookie Stackhouse fans, and for any reader who desperately needs a good reason to justify why they like Eric. Enjoy!!!

Dead To The World, Book 4
April 02, 2010

The supernatural world is further opened up to include witches and others when Sookie Stackhouse drives upon a half naked man running on the side of the road, on New Years night. Turns out that the nearly irresistible man is not a man, but the vampire Eric Northman, and he has no memory of anything. After the New Years party at Merlotte?s, Jason Stackhouse goes home with Crystal, a shifter, and disappears. Things are suspicious because his flashy truck is parked with the door left open and there?s blood stained on his property. The people of Bon Temps think the worst. Sookie is the one who will end up doing all the police?s footwork, again. What choice does she have? Jason is the only family she has. Sookie has broken up with the vampire Bill Compton, after he answered the call of his maker Lorena. She has rescinded both Bill?s and Eric?s invitation. Her introduction into the world of Weres and Shifters is blown wide open when she learns of the nearby community Hotshot. Her previous relationship with the hot and muscley Alcide does not hurt any either! Their leader Calvin Norris is very interested in Sookie, but she has feelings for Alcide. Her feelings for Calvin are familiar and homey. Now she is torn between Bill, Eric, Alcide, and the persistent advances of Calvin. Sookie and Bill?s relationship is scarred deeper by the events that happened in Mississippi. In Bill?s rescue, they were trapped in the trunk of a car, were Sookie was fed upon and raped until Bill came to his senses. Considering Sookie?s childhood molestation from her uncle, this is irreparably detrimental. It was Debbie Pelt who locked her in with Bill. What will Alcide do if he ever finds out? Will he see Debbie?s true dark nature? How much of a threat to Sookie is Debbie? Cursed, Eric is a completely different vampire. Eric is forced to hide out at Sookie's house, because the witches are looking for him. The coven's leader, Hallow gets too close when...
