Vanishing Acts (Large Print)

Once again, Jodi Picoult offers thought-provoking family drama to her legion of fans in this gripping novel of a woman caught between a past she cannot fully recall and the life she cannot lead without it.

“I was six years old the first time I disappeared...” Delia Hopkins has lived a charmed life—or so it seems. Raised in rural New Hampshire by her widowed father, Delia takes pride in her work as a missing persons investigator. But her most fulfilling role is mother to her young daughter, Sophie. With her wedding to Sophie’s father, Eric, fast approaching, she is plagued by mysterious flashbacks. When the police arrive at her front door to arrest her father for the abduction of a young girl 28 years ago, Delia is suddenly thrown into a search for the mother she thought was dead and the life that could have been.

I really do like this author but I do not feel this was one of her best. I read all of her books which always have a twist to them but did not enjoy this one as I usually do.

I just finished reading this last night, and I am still thinking about it today! She never fails to twist my own understanding and feelings for a situation as her stories unfold and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!

I did enjoy it, however, I couldn't wait to finish it! I love this author, but this book was one of my least favorite. Easy read though!

very good writing

This is the first book I have read by this author. I will probably read more now from her. I enjoyed the way she wrote each of the main character's feelings, even naming the chapters with their names. It showed how one decision made and carried forth affects so many people's lives in myriads of ways. The one part I could have done without & felt unecessary was the in depth chapters on Andrews's (the kidnapper/devoted father)life in prison and his participation in making and selling meth! I think it was totally unecessary to the story being told & hope that it was not a total recipe given ! One reason I was reading a novel was to avoid that kind of storyline that seems to permeate television shows. As a whole though I did enjoy the story.
