In 2007, a young woman named Rhodi Hawk won a scholarship from the International Thriller Writers to complete her first novel. A Twisted Ladder is the phenomenal end product.
Essentially abandoned by their schizophrenic father, Madeleine and Marc LeBlanc pretty much raised themselves. Now Maddie is a psychologist at Tulane University—while Marc’s body has just been found floating in a bayou. Distraught over her brother’s apparent suicide, Madeleine plunges into her family’s dark history…even back to TerreFleurs, the abandoned plantation where strange and sinister things once occurred. What she learns is that the ghosts of the past have a terrifying way of reaching into the future—and now they’re reaching out for her!

This book was just fair- but I would rather have been reading something else. But if I buy a book, I am determined to finish it. I don't really recommend it.

I was gripped from the beginning of the second chapter, which is saying something because there are authors that don't grab me that quickly. It is Southern Gothic, as the dust jacket quotes a reviewer as saying, but there are some fabulous twists on the spirit world and where they come from. Sweet love story in the midst of it all. If you enjoy novels where mere humans come to terms with the spirit world, and genetics that bring that to pass, this is a book you will enjoy!

I tried unsucessfuly to get into this book but was unable to. What boring content. What a waste of my money. Will watch the interviewing more closely and then not sure. There are some that liked it.
