What could please mystery lovers more than a whole series built around a mystery lover’s bookstore? With Laughed ’Til He Died, the latest in her adored and applauded Death on Demand series, Carolyn Hart gives us that satisfying “ahhh!” best found settled in our favorite armchair with a café latte and a criminally good read! And what better guide to this warm, familiar territory than bookstore owner and part-time sleuth Annie Darling?
The idyllic South Carolina sea island of Broward's Rock has had its share of intrigue and foul play. No one knows that better than Annie and her husband, Max, whose unusual business—Confidential Commissions—specializes in solving problems. This time around, the island's peace is shattered when a trio of deaths are linked to the island youth recreation center. With the evidence mounting against her, the center's director seeks out Max to clear her name.
Wherever mystery takes Max, Annie is sure to follow. To save an innocent woman, the pair scrambles to unravel three complex interlinked puzzles: the mystery of three guns, the pulled-out pant pockets of one victim, and the disappearance of a teenager whose stepfather always had the last laugh—until he died.

I have read several from this author and this is my 2nd of the Death on Demand series...and I am glad that I didn't start with this book. I felt there were way too many characters to keep track of since none were very developed. I found myself asking,"Now, who is this person and is what they have to say important?"

I love this series, but was most disappointed in this episode. The main characters' lives were barely on display, as everything focused on the suspects. I didn't feel that the series moved forward at all, as no main character development was featured. If I hadn't been a series fan, I wouldn't have much of an idea of who the main players were or their back story. No story advancements for my favorite characters made this just another mystery.
