Deliver Us From Evil

With blockbuster novels like The Camel Club, Absolute Power and First Family, David Baldacci has established himself as a master of the white-knuckle thriller, and Deliver Us From Evil is no exception. Heralding the return of Shaw, the mysterious operative from The Whole Truth, it takes us on a high-stakes rollercoaster ride as he faces a dangerous new enemy in Evan Waller, a man who built his fortune on his willingness to buy and sell anything…and whose next business venture could lead to the death of millions.

Shaw knows that his one chance to bring Waller down will come in the most unlikely of places: a serene village in Provence. Problem is, there’s another operative in play, and her intentions are far from clear. Is Reggie Campion friend, or foe? As she and Shaw engage in a dangerous game of wits, the stakes are ratcheted even higher when Waller discovers the one weakness in Shaw’s armor…and engineers the nightmare Shaw had hoped would never come to pass.

Hitchcockian in its buildup of suspense, Deliver Us From Evil sets a blistering pace. Delivering heart-hammering action and unexpected twists, it will have you spellbound until the very last page.

I thought it was really good
September 03, 2010

The amount of time spent on torture was so minute in relation to the entire story as to be minimal. If that turned people off, I would suggest they not read newspapers or watch any news programs. This was mild compared to what actually happens in this world. I enjoyed the story much more than some of his other books. Very good character development, plot and sub-plot developments all came together for a good story, a good read.

Enjoyed It!

While there is more violence than usual and it could be disturbing, I often went to bed only to get up to read more. I enjoyed it dispite the violence.

Baldacci's worst
August 12, 2010

The story was good, but the graphic violence and torture was way too much. What a change for this fine author. Going forward I will preview his books to avoid being so disappointed.

kept me going
August 11, 2010

What a good story line and kept your interest from front cover to back. I liked the plot and the way he developed it. In parts it was graphic but it was part of the guy's character. I thought it was another outstanding book by Baldacci.

What happened to David Baldacci?
August 09, 2010

His early novels were excellent until he fell victim to the "printing press" push to publish no matter how lousy your manuscript is. I never thought I'd say it, but I'm done with Baldacci. Lost me as a reader after a string of major disappointments.
