Ice Cold, bestselling author Tess Gerritsen’s new Jane Rizzoli/Maura Isles thrill ride, is, as the title implies, chilling....
Needing time to think about her complicated relationship with Father Daniel Brophy, medical examiner Maura Isles heads to Wyoming where she meets up with an old friend and his travel companions. But when they’re forced off the road by a dangerous snowstorm, they seek shelter in a town with a name that proves to be as forbidding as it implies. Where, Maura wonders, have the people in Kingdom Come gone? Eerily, all the homes appear to have been hastily abandoned, and yet it feels like they’re being watched.
When Maura fails to return home, Daniel becomes frantic, exhorting her friend and colleague, Detective Jane Rizzoli, to investigate—and what she finds isn’t good. While Jane anxiously waits to learn whether it’s her friend’s body that’s been hauled from the mangled wreckage of a car, Maura is on the run with an unlikely savior: a 16-year-old boy—and so far, he’s kept her safe. What worries Maura, though, is the shocking story he’s shared with her and how far the monsters implicated will go to keep them both from telling it....

This novel is a little different in that Rizzoli and Isles aren't working together but one is working to find the other. Also, I'm glad that Isles decided to move on, that her relationship with Daniel wasn't going anywhere. It will be interesting to see what the author does with that in her next book. I also liked that "Rat" was going to have a chance in life. I always like a happy ending. Great read!

I read this in less than 24 hours. Couldn't put it down. I've read most all of her books and this is one of the best. The TV series wouldn't be appealing to me if I had not read the books for background information on the characters, however.

Always love her books (5 stars) but this one, while good, just seemed to fall a little short of her high quality.

I awaited Ms. G's newest book with breathless anticipation & as usual was not disappointed.

This author is one of my favorites and this one was hard to put down BUT i think that there were some loose ends that really needed to be addressed..it leaves me wondering if these might not be what gets explained in future books..it left me with questions about what happened to some of the CENTRAL figures..all in all it was a good book
