In Victims, bestselling author Jonathan Kellerman is at his harrowing finest as he embarks on a journey into the darkest depths of the human condition.
So what if acid-tongued Vita Berlin hadn’t a friend in the world. Nobody deserves the death she got at the hands of a killer who makes Jack the Ripper look tame. Viewing her body arranged in a grotesque tableau, LAPD’s detective Milo Sturgis knows he’s going to need Alex Delaware, his friend and go-to guy on homicidal maniacs. But right from the start Alex is baffled. Even after more women are slain in the same horrific manner, he can find no connection between the victims other than a blank page bearing a question mark left behind at each scene. Is it a menacing taunt or a cry for help?
With the city approaching panic mode, Milo doubles his efforts to end the bloody spree while Alex heads to a mental institution where he once honed his craft. Could the answer lie in this place where unholy alliances are forged between the mad and the monstrous? As each piece of the puzzle fits into place, a portrait emerges of evil at its most unspeakable. And Alex realizes that this case will haunt his waking life and his darkest dreams long after its end.

I usually like Kellerman but I was about 15 chapters in before it held my attention.
This was another fascinating read! I could hardly put the book down. I can't wait for his new book to come out. I have read every piece of fiction he has written and he still keeps it fresh and timely. I love the way he writes, how he draws the audience into the story and how he uses real life locations to make the stories seem so real. Keep up the good work!
Opened this book as soon I got it and didn't put it down until I finished it! Another great read by my favorite author. Ready for another new one!
Kellerman is, in my opinion, a top notch mystery writer and this novel is a real page turner. I'm already looking forward to his next book.
