In The Killing Storm by Kathryn Casey, four-year-old Joey Warner is taken from a park while his mother is on her cell phone. A hurricane is heading to Houston, leaving Texas Ranger Sarah Armstrong and her FBI Agent boyfriend, David Garrity, only days to find the missing boy before the city is shut down. Joey’s mother seems unworried and even impedes their investigation. Could she be involved in her son’s disappearance?
If anyone can save Joey, it’s sharp and driven Sarah, but she has almost nothing to go on and the odds are stacking up. All the while, valuable longhorns are turning up slaughtered with strange symbols on their hide, Sarah’s daughter and mother want her home to ride out the storm, and David seems to be pulling away.

I wasn't that impressed with this author, book was kind of dry; seemed to drag. I won't be reading her again.
