Great Good...Disdturbing Ending

Though I have seen some movie adaptations,
this was the first Grisham book I have read,
and I would recommend it.
Like other reviewers,
I have to say that I was disappointed with the ending.
But I believe that's because it didn't end the way I wanted it to. However, the ending may have been realistic, which is what makes it so disturbing.
Other than this, I thought the character development was very good, the writing was excellent, and I really "enjoyed" it.

Terrible book...

This was the first John Grisham book I have ever read. I had heard everything about how good this book was, so I thought I'd give it a try especially since it was by the page-turning master. It was slow moving and was not the page turner I had expected. And what's worse is the fact the ending was very, very bad. I thought the judge was going to go against everything he promised during the election, but NO. Luckily I gave Grisham a second chance with another book against my judgement on this book. All I can say is stay away from this book unless you want something that will help you fall asleep.

Grisham has done it again. The simple Delta native has written a spellbinding page turner that will have you on the edge of your seat and losing sleep until you get to the climatic ending. Combining a thorough knowledge of Southern politics and a familiarity with "real" people, Grisham again delivers an outstanding narrative that is totally enjoyable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
